Stafford Rotehrá:kwas Maracle

Stafford Rotehrá:kwas Maracle, PhD (He/Him) is Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawk) from Kenhtè:ke, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Stewardship, where he is working with Dr. Cardinal-McTeague conducting Indigenous led environmental genomics research. Stafford’s research focuses on using environmental DNA from diverse media to non-invasively monitor biodiversity and understand community response to anthropogenic and climatic stressors – combining molecular findings with traditional ecological knowledge to place current ecological phenomena in the context of millennia of sustainable relationships to aid in developing effective conservation practices.
